GILLA BAND EIGHT FIVERS

Irish noise pioneers Gilla Band (formerly Girl Band) return with hectic new track 'Eight Fivers' and announce new album Most Normal, scheduled for release on 7th of October on Rough Trade Records. The track is a brief but frantic swell of noise that rattles and groans underneath the repetitive refrain of 'I spent all my money on shit clothes' followed a list of the names of highstreet shops: “‘Eight Fivers’ is about being out of touch with modern circumstances while feeling socially limited,” singer Dara Kiely said. “Never fitting in and kind of proud of it. Stuck with what I have and happy for it. Being grateful and not fashionable, self-conscious and too aware of what is lacking. Accepting that jealousy has played a big role in my life but trying not to feed into it.” Often imitated, proud outsiders Gilla Band return with a track that only they could have written, distinctive in their lyrics that mix the absurd with the banal, tropes from electronic music played through live instrumentation and waves of crushing noise.
